THE ANZIO EXPRESS & NORTH PLATTE CANTEEN WWII LIVING HISTORY DAYS

Join us again at the Illinois Railway Museum Memorial Day Weekend 2010 for our 2nd Annual WWII Living History Reenactment as we recreate the historic North Platte Canteen, honoring the American soldiers of WWII.  Then travel with our American GIs over seas to the Italian theater of operations in 1945. Witnessing a great mix of small skirmishes and skits culminating with an Italian rail yard battle. All scenarios will utilize working trains, trolleys, and streetcars.

ITALIAN RAIL YARD AIR RAID VIGNETTE
Saturday 10:30-10:45a.m. and Sunday 10:30-10:45a.m.
The Air Raid Siren blares and the Germans jump to their flack gun and prepare to defend the rail yard from the high altitude bombers over head. Reeanctors who wish to participate in the Air Raid, please email Phil Lauricella.

ANZIO EXPRESS GERMAN PATROL TRAIN
Saturday 1-2:30pm and Sunday 1:30-3pm.
The German Patrol Train loads up with soldiers and civilians on the hunt for downed airmen shot down during the Italian Rail Yard Air Raid.  During this scenario, the German Army interacts with the public checking papers and making inquires, capture Allied Pilots, and defend the train again an attack by the Allies to rescue the downed airmen. TOUR OF ITALY TROLLEY TOURS
Tours Scheduled for Saturday 1-2:30pm and Sunday 1:30-3pm.
WWII Historical Interpreters reenact history for the public through various vignettes and skirmishes from the Italian Campaign while museum guests ride the museum trolleys through war torn Italy.  The following Trolley stops are scheduled:

Trolley Stop #1: Anzio / US Allied Head Quarters and WAC Command. /Presented by the 2629th WACs./
Trolley Stop #2: Cassino / Battle for Monte Cassino skirmish.
Trolley Stop #3: Axis Occupation Zone / German theft of European Antiquities.
Trolley Stop #4: Axis Occupation Zone / Partisan Railroad Sabotage and Attack
Trolley Stop #5: Axis Occupation Zone / Viterbo German Headquarters /

Trolley Stop #6: Axis Occupation Zone / TBD
Trolley Stop #7 USA Home Front / TBD

The WWII Girls Baseball Living History League All-Star Game
Monday 11:00am-12:30pm
The ladies of the WWII Girls Baseball Living History League portray the Women of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League as depicted in the film, " A League of Their Own " will play an All-Star game on Memorial Day.

The North Platte Canteen
Saturday 4:30-5:30pm
The volunteer citizens of North Platte, Nebraska, voluntarily served thousands of travelling American GIs cakes and refreshments at their depot on the Union Pacific Railroad during WWII.
Join us as we recreate this famous demonstration of Home Front support for our troops.

All US military impressions will be needed for the North Platte Canteen Recreation. The more the better. Please join us for the fun.

Military Unit Commanders:
Please Contact Event Battle Command to inform us of your units participation in the skirmishes and battles.

Civilian and Resistance:
 Please Contact Resistance/Civilian Coordinator .  We are planning semi-scripted skits and scenarios.  If you  would like to participate as a Civilian Actor in our  North Platte Canteen Recreation or in one of our other Civilian and Resistance Skits, please email us directly so that we can add you to our Civilian/Resistance list.

   The World War Two Re-enactment Associations of TSG (Tactical Studies Group) and HRS (Historical Re-enactment Society) are a family of hundreds of men and women members from coast to coast, as well as Canada and Europe.  Our mission is to bring the history of World War Two to life with public displays, simulated battles that are both public as well as tactical simulations, participation in parades, and a variety of other community activities. 

   Both our Associations strives to honor and preserve the memory of those who served in World War Two, as well as preserve the artifacts of that period.

   Our members carry out a wide range of impressions, including those of The United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Poland, Italy, and Germany.

   Our focus is entirely on the military history of World War Two.  We have no place or sympathy for the ideology of nazism or fascism.  Such beliefs are not welcome here and will be turned away from this event.
